Medable, a clinical trial software company, is partnering with the recently formed nonprofit EveryCure to support research in repurposing existing drugs to treat rare diseases.

Medable is the winner in our Research and Development category, following the successful incorporation of Seqster technology into its decentralised trial platform. Seqster’s patient data streams will facilitate Medable’s patient recruitment and patient interaction process making its platform more patient-centric and interoperable.

CRO Syneos Health and Medable have extended their partnership that was formed in the spring of 2021 to boost decentralized clinical trials and improve patient diversity.

Decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) take advantage of technological advances in connected devices, mobile communications platforms and integrated electronic medical records (EMRs) Tufts study shows that DCTs are associated with reduced clinical trial timelines and financial benefits from five to 14 times for Phase II and Phase III trials. Researchers indicated that the potential for fewer sites in a DCT leads to a reduction in regulatory costs.

The company announces that Total Consent, an SaaS electronic management solution, is now available across more than 120 different locations globally.

Medable announces the launch of a ‘patient-first’ oncology service that the company states will improve patient access, enrolment, and retention for clinical trials.

The company’s technology allows trials to be conducted remotely, so participants do not need to visit a clinic in-person every time they need to take tests. Over the course of the pandemic, Medable decentralized more than 150 clinical trials to over one million participants across 41 countries and in over 60 languages, including Covid-19 vaccine and therapeutic treatment.

The latest offering by the trial software firm features prebuilt and validated decentralized clinical trial applications such as Total Consent and Televisit, an extensive electronic clinical outcome assessment oncology library, as well as protocol design consulting and a single point of entry for patients, sites and sponsors, the company said in an Oct. 26 press release.

GSK has selected clinical trial software and tech firm Medable to work on its roster of decentralized and hybrid studies. The four-year enterprise contract – financial terms of which were not made public – will see Medable provide GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) with its range of decentralized clinical trial technologies – including its eConsent, TeleVisit, and eCOA systems.

Medable is arguably the strongest company in the decentralized clinical trials space. If fundraising is any measure of success, the company has raised more than $521 million since its founding in 2012  — significantly more than its competitors, which include Curebase, Science 37 and Clara Health.

The drug-development field is burgeoning. According to Michelle Longmire, M.D., CEO of decentralized clinical trial software maker Medable, it is crucial to focus on clinical trials because “the science of the therapeutics is at an all-time exponential growth phase,” citing spaces such as mRNA technology and immunotherapy.

The decentralized clinical trial category has seen $534 million in funding in the last year. Walgreens and CVS Health have also entered the fray. Those who favor decentralized clinical trials say that the technology can speed up the enrollment process and result in cost savings.
