Patients as Partners US Conference

Save the date 4/07-4/09

The 8th annual Patients as Partners is guided by a dedicated group of advisors from pharma and biotech, patient advocacy and FDA whom meet quarterly to develop the conference agenda. This is the only event that truly demonstrates how patient involvement gets done throughout the entire medicines development life cycle to drive greater efficiencies in clinical research.

The program delves deep into patient involvement ideas, strategies and implementation processes that biopharma can utilize in order to help advance patient participation for better clinical outcomes. Each session demonstrates the what, where, when and how to co-create solutions with patients and measure the impact of those initiatives.

Title:  Differentiating Between Equality and Equity in Access to Decentralized Clinical Trials Participation

Abstract: “Not enough diverse patients!” - a challenge that we are all too familiar with – wherein we do not consider ensuring equitable access in all phases of clinical trials research. Fair and equitable patient (and site) selection in clinical trials helps determine the distribution of risks and benefits and impacts the applicability of study results for investigational therapies. In this session, Medable’s Jena Daniels, Director of Research and Head of Patient Advisory Council, will sit down with Dr. Gaurav Dave, a UNC Associate Professor of Medicine, Associate Director of the Center for Health Equity Research, Director of Abacus Evaluation Consulting, patient advocate, expert clinical trialist, and member of Medable’s Patient Advisory Council, to define equitable access for patients in decentralized clinical trials.
